1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the Wormdrop Team (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Wormdrop Battleground, our game for iPhone and iPad, or contact us for support. It does not replace the privacy terms of Apple or any optional AI provider you choose to use.
2. Information stored on your device
The game may store the following locally so it can remember your setup:
- game settings, control preferences, and tutorial progress;
- campaign, match, partner, rivalry, and play-history information;
- your selected AI provider, model, and optional proxy endpoint;
- an optional API key you enter for a remote AI provider; and
- local AI usage and cost estimates shown in the game.
We do not receive this local information merely because you play the game. You can remove it using the in-game reset controls where available or by deleting the app. See our data deletion guide.
3. On-device AI and speech
Apple Foundation Models
On eligible devices, Wormdrop can use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to control AI opponents. Requests handled in this mode are processed on the device, subject to the operating system's availability and behavior.
Push-to-talk
The microphone is active only while you hold the talk control. The app requests on-device speech recognition and is designed not to fall back to server transcription. Audio is processed ephemerally, is not retained by us, and is not sent to other players. The resulting line is used only in your local match. If microphone or speech access is denied, a canned taunt picker remains available.
Bot voices
Bot speech uses the device's text-to-speech system. We do not upload recordings to generate bot voices.
4. Optional remote AI providers
You may choose to connect Wormdrop to OpenAI, OpenRouter, another OpenAI-compatible service, or a proxy endpoint you enter. When remote AI is enabled, the app sends limited game information needed to produce a move or line of dialogue. This may include:
- battlefield and match state, nearby opponents, available weapons, and tactical options;
- fictional worm names, personalities, generated banter, and short match memory;
- player commands or short push-to-talk transcripts addressed to AI worms; and
- technical request details required by your chosen endpoint.
Your API key is sent to the selected endpoint to authenticate the request. We do not operate those third-party services and do not control their logging, retention, or training practices. Review the provider's privacy policy before using it. If you enter a custom proxy, its operator can receive the same request content.
5. Information we do not collect through the game
- No Wormdrop account or profile is required.
- We do not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or payment-card information.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- The launch version does not provide player-to-player messaging or online multiplayer.
6. Support messages
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, device or OS details, and description of the problem. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain support records. Please do not include API keys or other sensitive information in a support request.
7. Children
Wormdrop contains stylized cartoon combat. It is not designed to collect personal information from children, and no account is required. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support channel, contact us so we can delete it.
8. Security and retention
Local data remains on your device until you reset it or remove the app. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, keep basic support records, or meet legal obligations. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, particularly when you choose a third-party provider or custom proxy.
9. Your choices
- Use the game without creating an account.
- Deny microphone and speech permissions and use the fallback taunt picker.
- Use on-device AI where available or choose not to configure a remote provider.
- Remove a remote API key or proxy URL in the game's AI settings.
- Delete local game information using the steps in our deletion guide.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the game's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the latest version. For privacy questions, email support@wormdrop.game.
